According to preliminary data from Ukrmetallurgprom, for 10 months of 2020, metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine smelted 17.02 million tons of steel, which is 5.3% less than in the same period last year (APPG).

Pig iron production in January-October amounted to 16.88 million tons, which is 1.1% less than in the APPG, the production of finished metal products decreased by 2.2% over 10 months and amounted to 15.20 million tons.

Recall that in the nine months of 2020, Ukraine produced:

• pig iron - 15.17 million tons (-2% to the same period);
• steel - 15.33 million tons (-6.5% to the same period);
• finished rolled products - 13.71 million tonnes (-2.8% to the same period);

As of October 15, 2020, of the main operating production facilities in operation: 16 out of 21 blast furnaces, 7 out of 8 open-hearth furnaces, 12 out of 16 converters, 6 out of 15 electric furnaces and 15 out of 17 continuous casting machines .

The results of the activity of the MMC of Ukraine for 10 months of 2020 indicate that the industry remains in a difficult situation caused by the crisis in the global steel market, aggravated by the coronavirus pandemic.

Previously it was reported that Metinvest's enterprises in Ukraine increased steel production by 22% in Q3 2020, pig iron production increased by 17%.
