Thyssenkrupp
Thyssenkrupp plans to spin off its steel distribution division tk accelis, formerly thyssenkrupp Materials Services, and list its business on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The Group intends to transfer a 49% minority stake to thyssenkrupp shareholders, while retaining a controlling stake. The plan requires approval at an extraordinary general meeting scheduled for August 7, 2026.
The updated division focuses on material distribution, processing, and supply chain maintenance. In the fiscal year 2024-25, the steel company's revenue amounted to 11.4 billion euros, and sales amounted to 7.6 million tons of steel.
Trade Protection – United Kingdom
The UK government has confirmed the transition period for its new steel trade measures, which will come into force soon, effective July 1.
Steel imported in the third quarter under contracts concluded before March 14 will be exempt from the new 50% tariff on imports outside quotas. Imports subject to the relevant quotas will also not be taken into account when allocating quotas for July-September. Importers must provide proof that the contracts were concluded before the expiration date on March 14.
The Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Trade has published a preliminary statement on the distribution of TA scheduled for April 2. However, the final quota amounts for specific countries are still subject to review and have not yet been confirmed ahead of the planned July introduction of the new measure.1
Thyssenkrupp Steel
Thyssenkrupp Steel has resumed trial operation of the strip 4 hot rolling mill in Duisburg after carrying out repair work at the enterprise.
The company reports that the furnaces and roof sections were repaired after the facility was damaged by fire in October 2025. In December, the work of the corresponding continuous line was resumed.
